The Lands Village Hall coffee mornings continues apace in 2024. This updates our previous post.
If you’ve never been to one of our coffee mornings before (where have you been?) you just do not know what you’ve been missing. You should make it a New Year’s resolution to come along, and you won’t look back. Put it in your new calendar for 2024 on the first Tuesday every month, so you don’t ever miss another one. You can expect a warm welcome, hot drinks, light refreshments, and plenty of cakes, all at reasonable prices.
You can sit and read a book from our Book Xchange, chat to others, make new friends, or borrow one of our board games and drag some other people along to play (Trivial Pursuit™ is good training for the Quiz Night). We are convenient for a walk along Cockfield Fell or the Gaunless Valley, if you want to do some exercise or walk the dog before visiting us for something warm and something cake–like.
Everyone is welcome at the Tuesday coffee mornings, local residents and visitors, including dogs, cats, and cyclists. So get here early if you want cake. They sell like, well, cakes.
We start at 10am and finish at 12.30pm (last orders 12pm). And did I mention, we have cakes?

Our regular coffee mornings support Lands Village Hall’s refurbishment programme and provide a much–needed fund for future events and activities. Your village hall is an important part of village life and provides a hub for community activities, social gatherings, and aid during emergencies, such as power cuts. Without your support, the village hall will not be able to function. Use and support your hall.
On 7 June 1940, a group of five local men bought the property and land from Henry Stobart and Company Limited for fifty pounds and constituted the Institution, enabling the building to be used in trust by the community.
In October 1965, the Institution was converted to a registered charity and became Lands Village Hall Association.
Lands Village Hall Trust believes in equality and diversity, and welcomes everyone through its doors. It is supported by Durham County Council and the local community.
